Caller ID isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's difficult to find out the identity of a person who calls from a toll free number. If you would like to know about the identity of the person or company representative placing the phone call, you won't be able to get that information by simply knowing the number. However, there is no reason why you can't do a bit of sleuthing to discover who it is that is placing the call.

Step 1

Redial the toll free number to track down the owner or company that initially placed the call. Inquire about who you're talking to once the call is connected.

Google the 800 number with quotation marks if you are unable to connect the call.

Check GoTollFree.com and Anywho.com to conduct searches. Now, retrieve customer information for the toll free number.

Step 4

Get the toll free number owner's business name. Also get the address, city, state and zip code.

Call the phone company and ask if the telephone number is unlisted. Request address history of the owner's number.
