AT&T is one of the most recognizable wireless carriers throughout the United States and boasts many innovative mobile devices such as the iPhone. However, its service can become scarce in some areas. Usually, when this occurs, AT&T automatically routes your cell phone signal to another wireless carrier's tower with better signal strength. This is called roaming. If you would like to update the roaming capabilities on your mobile phone, you will need to enable this service and update your phone's connection.
Press the "Menu" button on your mobile phone and select the "Settings" option.
Select the "Network" or "Network Connections" option. Depending upon the model of your phone, you may need to select "General" first, followed by the "Network" selection.
Navigate through the listings and select the "Mobile Network" option, followed by "Roaming" or "Data Roaming."
Select the option to enable roaming. Press the "OK" or "Save" option to save your selection. Return to the main menu. Locate and launch the "Manage Connections" application.
Select the "Turn Off" option to disable the connections on your phone. Wait for the connections to turn off completely.
Select the "Turn On" option to enable the connections on your phone. This will route your phone to the nearest cell tower in your area with the highest signal strength. Make a test call to confirm that the roaming capabilities have been updated.
