Canon inkjet printer cartridges contain a chip that tracks ink use but doesn't monitor print levels. Refilling inkjet cartridges or using a continuous ink system is an economical solution for many consumers. However, the cartridge chip or the ink counter on the printer may need to be reset periodically. Cartridge resetters are available from many refill ink suppliers; the ink waste counter on Canon printers can also be reset manually.
