Meeting female friends as an adult can be challenging. Not because there aren't enough awesome women in your area wanting to make new friends, it's just hard to find them. Hey! VINA is an app that's dedicated to "building global communities of women who make each other feel supported, inspired, free, and above all else, happy."
VINA is basically Tinder for meeting local, like-minded girlfriends. To connect with someone you're interested in meeting up with, you swipe right to show your interest. And if the person swipes right back, you'll receive a notification that you're a match.
Unlike Twitter, VINA asks you to upload just one photo of yourself. And it doesn't only rely on swipes, it uses a matching algorithm that takes into account mutual friends, location, interests, as well as information gathered from fun little quizzes within the app.
The app has been available on iOS since the beginning of 2016 (it had 100,000 downloads in the first week, according to the company), and it just now became available on Android.
"Our goal is to help people find sisterhood and connection and helping them go through life," founder and CEO Olivia June Poole said. "We want people to see that they have allies and have backup when they share their stories, and a shared connection in their experiences."
