How to Track Your Sleep Using iPhone's Bedtime Mode

Sleeping is important, but chances are you don't get enough of it—or at least not as much as you'd like. Your iPhone has a feature called Bedtime that can help you get more sleep.


Bedtime mode helps you track your sleep when you set the amount of time you want to sleep each night. The Clock app can remind you when to go to sleep at night when to wake up. It's like a mom, but without the unconditional love.

How to set a bedtime

  1. Open the Clock app, and tap the Bedtime tab located at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Get Started and answer a few questions.
  3. Tap Save.

Choose the time you'd like to wake up, which days of the week you want the alarm to go off, how many hours of sleep you need each night, the time you want your bedtime reminder to sound, and the tone you want to hear. Your selections can be altered at any time.


How to track your sleep

Tap the Bedtime tab, then scroll down to your Sleep Analysis, which shows your recent history.

The Bedtime feature is an effective way to get you to put your phone down when you're in bed, because if you use it when you're supposed to be sleeping, you won't get credit for that time. Or, if you snooze the Wake alarm, the time that you stay in bed updates to match.


Data from Bedtime also automatically appears in the Health app under Health Data > Sleep > Sleep Analysis.

Now you just need your family, friends, work, and other obligations to actually leave you alone long enough for you to get the sleep you need!
