July 4th celebrations are going to look different this year due to the current health crisis. While most Independence Day events are canceled, Macy's will still be hosting its annual fireworks show, but this year it'll be reimagined.
Macy's usually puts on one big fireworks show on July 4th, but this year, 5-minute displays will be spread out in the five NYC boroughs over five nights leading up to Saturday—and all will be available to watch or stream on NBC on July 4th from the safety and comfort of your home.
The broadcast will air from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT. If you don't have a cable subscription, and if you can borrow someone's login information, NBC can be streamed online. You can also try a free trial of YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, or Fubo TV to stream NBC online for July 4th.
John Legend will be headlining the show with backup vocals from the Young People's Chorus of NYC. There will also be salute to front-line workers performed by Mayo Clinic surgeon, Dr. Elvis.
Even though watching a fireworks show online isn't nearly as exciting or fun as being there in person, it's better than no fireworks at all. And at this point, keeping everyone safe is the priority.
