Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 Restock Tonight: All Prices and Options

The Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 restock goes live tonight at 20:00 PDT / 03:00 UTC (July 11), first-come, first-served, with no pre-registration required, Notebookcheck reported today. Four configurations are available, priced from $239 to $309. Ayaneo has not disclosed how many units will be on offer.

The first batch sold out almost immediately at launch, a product of an extremely constrained global allocation: only 100 units available internationally while more than 1,000 sold in China during the same window, according to Notebookcheck. After those cleared, Ayaneo told its Discord community there would be no restock and that the Pocket Micro 2 was a "real limited edition." Tonight's sale is the reversal of that position. Whether additional batches follow remains unknown.

Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 restock: configurations, prices, and how they compare to launch

Tonight's restock expands on what launched two weeks ago. Stardust Purple is now available at the entry-level 6GB/128GB tier. At launch, that finish was exclusive to the 8GB/256GB configuration, per Android Authority. All four configurations and tonight's pricing, via Notebookcheck:

  • $239 6GB / 128GB / Midnight Black or Frosty White
  • $269 6GB / 128GB / Stardust Purple (new for this restock)
  • $269 8GB / 256GB / Midnight Black or Frosty White
  • $309 8GB / 256GB / Stardust Purple

The launch pricing structure was different. The 6GB/128GB base model carried a $235 early-bird price (retail: $265); the 8GB/256GB in black or white was $279 early-bird (retail: $309); and the Stardust Purple 8GB/256GB was $309 early-bird (retail: $339), according to Retrododo. Android Authority noted a $30 discount was applied across all three variants as a launch offer, per Android Authority. Tonight's prices don't map cleanly onto those figures the 6GB/128GB base is $4 higher than the early-bird price but below retail; the 8GB/256GB in black or white matches the retail figure; and the Purple 8GB/256GB is $40 below what it retailed for at launch.

The 6GB/128GB Stardust Purple at $269 has no direct launch equivalent Purple simply wasn't offered at that memory tier before tonight.

Both tiers use LPDDR4X RAM and support microSD expansion, Notebookcheck noted. The device runs Android out of the box, though Ayaneo has not specified which version, per Android Authority.

What drove the initial sellout

Infographic-style graphic showing 100-unit international allocation versus 1,000+ sales in China for the Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 leading to an immediate sellout

The Pocket Micro 2 is the only ultra-limited model in Ayaneo's retro handheld lineup, Notebookcheck noted. With 100 units allocated globally against more than 1,000 sold in China during the same window, the sellout was a supply question from the start.

After those units cleared, Ayaneo's Discord community received a direct message: "No restock, sorry about it. Pocket Micro 2 is a real limited edition," as Notebookcheck reported twelve days ago. The company confirmed the 100-unit figure in that same exchange and added that it "would rather choose to stop selling" than raise prices unreasonably. At launch, Retrododo had noted that Ayaneo described those 100 units as a "first batch," language that implied additional production was possible. Tonight confirms that framing was the more accurate one.

What changed between generations

The processor is the headline upgrade. The Pocket Micro 2 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, replacing the MediaTek Helio G99 from the original. Ayaneo claims a 220% performance improvement, though that figure is company-provided and hasn't been independently benchmarked in available reporting, per Android Authority. Ayaneo framed the gain in experiential terms: faster load speeds, more stable performance, better compatibility, according to Notebookcheck.

Battery capacity is the more concrete improvement. The Pocket Micro 2 carries a 3,950mAh cell against the original's 2,600mAh, a 52% increase that Android Authority identified earlier this year as directly addressing the first model's most consistent complaint. Shoulder buttons and the D-pad were also revised, per Android Authority.

The display carries over unchanged: a 3.5-inch 960x640 LCD in a 3:2 aspect ratio, suited to GBA, NES, SNES, GameCube, and PS2 emulation, as well as select Nintendo Switch titles, Notebookcheck noted. The larger battery comes with a slightly bigger chassis: 162x67.8x18mm and 248 grams versus the original's 156x63x18mm and 233 grams, per Android Authority. That's 15 extra grams and 6mm of added length.

What Ayaneo still hasn't said

The restock is confirmed. The unit count is not. Ayaneo reversed a firm "no restock" position in under two weeks, so another batch is possible, but the company has given no indication of scale or timing for anything beyond tonight's sale. Going into the 8PM window, the only confirmed facts are: four configurations, first-come, first-served, no pre-registration required.
