Cleaning a laptop mouse pad safely requires the right tools, including lint-free antistatic wipes and swabs. You can also use isopropyl alcohol and a mild soap to clean the external parts of your laptop. You should clean your mouse pad regularly, because dirt, grime and oil from your fingers can decrease the sensitivity of the mouse pad.

Power off your laptop and unplug it to prevent an electrical shock.

Use a clean, damp cloth to remove any dirt, grime and oil buildup on the mouse pad. Dampen a cotton cloth or paper towel with water, then add a mild soap. Wring out excess water before wiping down the laptop.


Step 3

Wipe off the surface of the mouse pad. Gently wipe until it is clean. Use antistatic wipes and swabs to remove any embedded dirt from the corners of the mouse pad.

Step 4

MMoisten a clean cotton cloth or paper towel with isopropyl alcohol. Wipe the surface of the mouse pad again to help remove any remaining oil and residue. Step 5

Plug your laptop power cords back into an electrical outlet after the mouse pad or the exterior is completely dry.
