Tips & Warnings

  • If you have been out of the job search market for a few years, your information has likely changed in some way, so it is vital that you review your account information on Monster to update your profile before applying for jobs.
  • If you would like to specify a contact preference, an IM user name or a change to your military service, you can do all of this with one update of your account on Monster. Adding as much information as possible in this section will make it easier for employers to contact you and can make your more enticing for other positions.
  • If you receive an email from Monster that asks you for personal information such as your username, password, credit card information or social security number, it is a fraud. Monster will never ask you for this data unless you are logged onto the site during the registration or membership sign-up process. Especially if an email asks you to click on a link to fill in this information, do NOT do it, as it will take you to a fake Monster site and will retrieve your account information fraudulently. Instead, log onto the Web site directly, log in to your account, and update information there. Check out Monster's fraud avoidance tips for more information (see Resources below).
