How to Convert a Digital Camera Video to a DVD for Free

There are a wide range of freely available programs for converting digital camera videos to DVD video in just a few mouse clicks. These programs will perform the transcoding operations necessary to convert digital video files into a DVD readable format. Once the conversion is completed and the DVD burned, pop the disc into a DVD player to view your digital camera video, on any DVD capable device including your television.

Things You'll Need

  • DVD authoring software
  • Blank DVD

Download your Digital Video

Step 1

Connect your digital camera to a computer via the USB cable.

Step 2

Select "Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard."

Step 3

Select "Copy pictures to a folder on my computer."

Step 4

Review the pictures and video files available for download on your camera and select those you wish to save to your computer and then click "Next."

Step 5

Specify the folder you wish to save the pictures and video files and then click "Next."

Step 6

Review your download operation and click "Finish" to complete the process. The files will be saved to the location you specified.

Convert Digital Video to DVD with Windows DVD Maker

Step 1

Launch Windows DVD Maker by selecting "Start," "Programs," and "Windows DVD Maker."

Step 2

Select "Burn a DVD video disc using Windows DVD Maker." Then, select "Add items."

Step 3

Navigate to the digital camera videos you wish to burn to DVD and click "Add" to add them to your project.

Step 4

Arrange the digital camera videos according to your preference.

Step 5

Click "Customize Menu" to configure the DVD menu to your preference.

Step 6

Insert a blank DVD and click "Burn" once your DVD is configured.

Step 1

Download, and launch DVD Flick.

Step 2

Select "Add title" and navigate to the digital camera video files you wish to burn to DVD.

Step 3

Configure the DVD title, menus and chapters for each video file to your preference and then click "Accept."

Step 4

Select "Burning" from the left-hand sidebar.

Step 5

Check "Burn project to disc" and then click "Accept" to burn your video files to DVD.

Step 1

Download, install and launch DVD Styler.

Step 2

Select "File," "New" to start a new project. Select NTSC as the DVD format.

Step 3

Select the "Directories" tab to locate digital camera video files.

Step 4

Navigate to the digital camera video files you wish to burn and drag them to the project area to add the files.

Step 5

Configure the DVD menu by selecting the "Backgrounds" tab and setting the menu to your preference.

Step 6

Select "File," "Burn DVD" to commit the project to DVD. DVD Styler will convert the digital video files to the DVD format and burn the files to disc.
