How to Convert a Ghost File to ISO

By Joshua Bailey

Norton Ghost is a program that backs up your entire computer system, allowing you to restore your computer to an earlier state. This means that if your computer crashes or a virus is placed onto the computer you can easily get it back to a fully working state. Norton does this by creating a ghost file of the system. This file can be converted into an ISO file, which can then be either burnt to a disc or mounted as a virtual drive.

Nero 9 Lite

Step 1

Download and install Nero 9 Lite. The free download link is located in the Resources below.

Step 2

Open Nero and click "Data Burning" to open the Nero Burning ROM. Click on the "Destination Drive" drop-down box and select "Image Recorder." Click the "Browse" button and select a place to save the ISO file. Click "Save" to verify the location.

Step 3

Click the "Add" button and browse for your ghost file. Select it and click "Open" to load it into Nero. Click "Burn" and the ISO file will be created.

Imgburn

Step 1

Download and install "Imgburn" from the Resource section. Imgburn is free and is very similar to Nero.

Step 2

Click "Create image file from files/folders." Locate your ghost file and drag it onto the open Imgburn window. This will load the file into the program.

Step 3

Click on the "Destination" icon and select a place to save the ISO file. Once selected, click "Save" to verify the location. Click the green arrow to start the conversion process.
