How to Convert CPT to JPG

By Ian Moore

Corel Paint, or CPT, files are created when a file is saved using the Corel Paint Shop program. However because these files are unique and are specific to Corel Paint Shop, a majority of programs are unable to view and open these files. To do this, it is necessary to convert them into a universal format, such as JPG. JPG files are the gold standard for digital images and converting your CPT files to JPG will make your files much more versatile.

Things You'll Need

  • Irfan View

Step 1

Go to the Irfan View website (See Resources). Click "Download" on the left-hand side menu. Select the download location and then click "Download Now." You will use this program to open your CPT file.

Step 2

Install and save Irfan View to your desktop or in an easy to remember location. Right-click on your CPT image and select "Open With Irfan View."

Step 3

Go to "File" and "Save As." Click the down arrow next to "Save As Type." Scroll down and select "JPG-JPG/JPEG Format." Click "Save."

Step 4

Go to "File" and "Exit." Your CPT file has now been converted to JPG. Open and view it with any image program that you want.
