Converting your email files to PDF format is way to keep them in a separate location in a universal format. PDF files are multi-platform, so they can be opened on different operating systems. This comes in handy when you need to send the files to someone who runs a different system than you do. It also makes storing old emails simpler. It is quite easy to convert an email into a PDF.
Download and install Adobe print drivers, Adobe Acrobat (full version) or NovaPDF to your computer. (See "Resources" for links to download the programs). You will need one of these programs to continue with the steps. There is a fee associated with purchasing the full version of Adobe Acrobat and any version of NovaPDF. The Adobe PostScript print drivers is a free download from the Adobe website. It will allow you to print files to a PDF format.
After downloading one of the programs, find where you saved it on your computer. Double-click the installation file and follow the onscreen wizard to install the program.

Open the email that you want to convert. You can open it in an email application like Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, or in your browser with services such as Gmail or Yahoo.
Click on "Print" to print the email. In Outlook, you can go to "File" then "Print." If you have the email open in your Internet browser, click on "File" then "Print" also.
Choose "Adobe PDF Printer" (if you downloaded one of the Adobe products) or "NovaPDF Pro Server" (if you installed NovaPDF) as the printer to print the email to. Click "OK" to print the email to the Adobe printer. The email will be converted into a PDF and will open in Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Click "File" then "Save a Copy" to save the file as a PDF.
