How to Convert Playlists Into MP3 Files in iTunes

By Andrew Smith

Adding a certain number of songs to a playlist using iTunes gives you the ability to bypass all other iTunes songs outside of the playlist when you are listening to music. You can also use iTunes to convert an entire playlist of audio files into MP3 format. Once the conversion is completed, you will have the option of creating an MP3 CD with the audio files inside the playlist.

Change iTunes Setting

Step 1

Open iTunes.

Step 2

Click the “iTunes” (Mac computers) or “Edit” (Windows computers) option. A menu drops beneath the selected option.

Step 3

Choose “Preferences.” A window labeled “iTunes” opens in the middle of the program.

Step 4

Click the “General” tab inside the top portion of the iTunes window. Click “Import Settings” in the middle of the window. An “Import Settings” window appears. Click the top “Import Using” tab and choose “MP3 Encoder.”

Step 5

Click “OK” in both the “Import Settings” and “iTunes” windows. Both windows close.
