How to Convert SCH to PDF

By Joseph Mars

A Schematics (.sch) file on your computer is associated with the Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor (EAGLE) design software. Once you have finished working on an ."sch" file on a Windows PC, saving it into a format that you can present to others, such as ".pdf," requires Microsoft Publisher, a PostScript printer and the Adobe Acrobat Distiller software.

Things You'll Need

  • Microsoft Publisher
  • PostScript printer, such as Microsoft Publisher Imagesetter
  • Adobe Acrobat Distiller software

Step 1

Open the ".sch" file with Microsoft Publisher. Click the "File" menu and click "Print."

Step 2

Click the "Name" box, click "Printer" and choose the "Microsoft Publisher Imagesetter." Check the "Print to file" box with your mouse, and click "OK."

Step 3

Type in a name for the file that ends in ".ps" to save the ".sch" file as a PostScript file; for example, type in "MyPublication.ps" with your keyboard. Select your computer's "Desktop" as the destination for the file to be saved to, and click "OK."

Step 4

Open Adobe Acrobat Distiller, click the "File" menu, and click "Open." Select the "MyPublication.ps" file you saved to your desktop, and click "Open" to display the file in Distiller.

Step 5

Click the "File" menu and click "Save." Type in a name for the file that ends in ".pdf;" for example, type in "MyPublication.pdf" with your keyboard. Select your computer's "Desktop" as the save destination, and click "Save."

Step 6

Open the file on your desktop to use it.
