HP computers run different versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system depending on when they were manufactured. Windows is designed to support multiple user accounts. Each user account maintains its own set of files, settings and permissions, and is set up to be secure by default so that the user's files are kept private from other users on the system. You can create a new user on an HP computer to take advantage of account separation.
Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen.
Select Control Panel.
Click User Accounts.
Click Manage Another Account.
Click "Create a new user."
Enter the name for the account, then click Standard or Administrator, depending on what type of access the new user account is to have.
Click "Create Account." The next time the computer is restarted or the current user logs out, the new user account will be accessible on the HP computer.
