How to Create an Adobe 11X17 Document
An 11-by-17 page is a common size for a flyer or poster. Since that size is equivalent to two standard 8.5-by-11-inch pages, you can also use it to create a folded brochure or booklet that size (8.5 by 11 inches). Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and ImageReady are the three common Adobe layout programs that allow you to set a specific size for your document then begin designing your masterpiece.
Load Adobe InDesign. Click "File," then "New" and select "Document" to bring up the "New Document" dialog box.
Go down to the "Page Size" section.
Press the "Up" arrow to adjust the "Width" and "Height" drop-down lists to 11 and 17 respectively. Modify the page orientation to landscape mode if you'd like (the width and height will reverse automatically).
Click "OK" to save the settings and open your new document.
Load Adobe Photoshop. Select "File" then "New" on the main menu to display the "New" dialog box.
Select the drop-down boxes next to the "Width" and "Height" numbers and select "inches" for each.
Type "11" into the width box and "17" into the height box (do the reverse if you want the new file to display in landscape mode at that size).
Press "OK" to save your settings and start creating your new file in Photoshop.
Load Adobe ImageReady. Navigate to "File," then "New" on the main menu, which will bring up a "New Document" dialog box.
Scroll to the "Image Size" section and select the box next to "Width." Replace the pixel number with "1100." Do the same for "Height," only type in "1700." Switch these numbers if you want the document to open in landscape mode.
Hit "OK" when you're finished to display your blank document in ImageReady. This document is sized proportionate to an 11-by-17-inch page.
