Sending text messages is one of the most commonly used methods of communication today. SMS messages, or short message service messages, can be sent via cell phone as a typed message, rather than calling someone. When you send a SMS message, you should send the message to the person's cell phone so that he will receive the message and be able to read it on his device. If you are trying to find out your SMS number, you need to know what your cell phone number is.
Turn on your cellular device and navigate to the "Settings" menu.
Locate the area of your phone's settings that allows you to see information about your phone. The location of your phone settings is different for every device. Check for a menu called "My Phone" or similar.
Write down your phone number when you locate it. This number is the number people can use to send you phone calls and send you SMS messages.
Contact your cellular service provider. If you cannot find your phone's number by checking through the settings, call your phone company and ask them for your phone number. Give this number to anyone trying to reach you via SMS messages.
