Video Random Access Memory (VRAM) is memory on your video card that is used to store image data that the computer displays. VRAM acts as a buffer between your CPU and your video card processor. A video card with more VRAM is better for running computer games, video-editing software, graphics software and other graphics-intensive applications. You can determine the amount of VRAM on your video card with the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

Type "dxdiag" to the Search field and press "Enter."

Click the "Display" tab at the top of the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" window.
Step 4
Locate the "Approx. Total Memory" text under the "Device" heading. The number directly to the right of this text is the amount of VRAM for your video card, expressed in megabytes.
