An Internet protocol (IP) address is a unique number assigned to a computer when it connects to the Internet. It consists of a series of numbers separated by periods (also called a "dotted quad"). There are two relatively easy ways to find the IP address of a business or organization.
Finding IP Address Manually
Step
Click on "Start," then "Run" on your PC.
Step
Type "cmd" in the text box and press "OK." You will be directed to the Command Prompt window, which may look similar to: "C:>" or "C:\Documents and Settings\User>."
Step
Type in the following information: "ping businesswebsite.com"
Step
Replace "businesswebsite.com" with the organization's actual domain name. Then press the "Enter" key. The IP address for the business will be displayed on your screen.
