How to Make a Second Facebook Account

By Kinsey Jamison

Most people have a Facebook account to keep up with friends and family, share photos and post updates about daily happenings. Facebook sets no limit to the number of accounts a person can have, and some people opt to have separate accounts for personal interests, friends, family and coworkers. Because a Facebook account is tied to a unique email address, anyone can start a second account as long as a unique email address is provided. Accounts are completely separate and do not share friends, photos or applications.

Step 1

Register for a second email address if you have only one. Many free Web-mail services like Gmail ( and Hotmail ( will take only a few minutes to sign up.

Step 2

Go to the Facebook homepage ( and fill in the required fields on the sign-up form along the right side of the page. Enter an email address that has not yet been used to register for a previous Facebook account, your first and last name, a password, your gender and your birthdate.

Step 3

Click the green "Sign up" button below the form fields. Your account will be validated and an email will be sent to you to confirm your account.
