Paint is a user-friendly graphics program that comes free with Microsoft Windows. Use Paint to produce items such as business cards, birthday cards and invitations. Increasing the resolution on an image increases the number of pixels, making your image look sharper and more professional.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Paint by clicking ''All Programs'' within the start bar, then ''Accessories.''

Step 2

Click ''Image'' then ''Attributes.''

Step 3

Type into the fields labeled ''Width'' and ''Height'' the desired new resolution. Increase the amount for greater resolution.

Increasing the resolution within your image will increase the size of the file. A larger file takes up more space on your computer, is slower to open and manipulate.
