How to Program My DirecTV Remote to a Receiver
You have to program a DirecTV remote control to your receiver to be able to access all of its functions from a distance. DirecTV offers satellite television service to its subscribers by transmitting a signal from space to a user's satellite dish. The remote control's buttons are used to access all of the receiver's menu options. The remote can even be programmed to control a television set or auxiliary devices, such as stereo receivers or DVD players. Program your DirecTV remote to your receiver in under two minutes.
Things You'll Need
Power on your television and the DirecTV receiver. Point your remote control toward the television. Stand close to the receiver to ensure a proper signal connection between it and the remote.
Press the "Menu" button on the remote to make the DirecTV receiver's menu options appear on the television screen. The "Menu" button is located directly beneath the navigational arrow buttons in the center of the remote.
Press the remote's navigational arrow buttons to highlight "Parental, Favs and Setup," then press the "Select" button. The "select" button is located directly in the middle of the navigation arrow buttons on the remote.
