Foxtel IQ is a DVR satellite receiver. The convenience of DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) is that they allow you to quickly and easily make a high-quality recording of your favorite TV programs so that you can watch them at your leisure. The downside is that DVR recordings are saved to a hard disk. While this means you never have to worry about needing a tape or disc to record your program, it also means portability and preservation are issues. If you want the ability to permanently save your recording and transport it anywhere you like, transfer it to a DVD.
Connect Foxtel IQ to DVD Recorder
Connect the coaxial cable, installed by the Foxtel technician (the cable coming from the wall), to the "Cable In" port on the back of the Foxtel IQ.
Plug one end of a composite video cable (the yellow RCA cable) into the Composite Video Out port labeled "Coaxial" on the back of the Foxtel IQ. Plug the other end of this cable into the Composite Video In port (the yellow RCA port) on the back of the DVD recorder.
Insert one end of a white RCA cable into the (white) Audio Out "L" port on the back of the Foxtel IQ. Insert the other end of this cable into the white RCA In port on the back of the DVD recorder.
Connect one end of the red RCA cable into the (red) Audio Out "R" port on the back of the Foxtel IQ. Insert the other end of this cable into the red RCA port on the back of the DVD recorder.
Use another set of RCA cables to connect the DVD recorder's RCA output ports to the TV set's RCA input port. Follow the same color pattern as outlined in the previous steps. The yellow RCA cable plugs in the yellow RCA ports; the white RCA cable plugs into the white RCA ports; and the red RCA cable plugs into the red RCA ports.
Turn on the TV, Foxtel IQ receiver, and DVD recorder.
Change the TV's video input channel to the A/V source. Change the DVD recorder's video input channel to the A/V source.
