Comcast cable boxes are manufactured by Motorola, Scientific Atlanta and Pace. Each of these manufacturers produce several different cable set top box models which are used by Comcast. Therefore, if for some reason you get a new Comcast cable box, there is no guarantee that the box you receive will be the same brand and model of your old cable box. If you're still using your old Comcast universal remote control, you may need to reprogram the remote to operate the new cable box. The process of reprogramming a Comcast universal remote differs depending upon the type of remote you're using.
