Your Philips universal remote can be programmed to control most major brand TVs, cable boxes and satellite boxes by using the code for that specific brand. If you have lost the code list for your Philips universal remote, you can still program the remote by trying the codes here or checking the Philips website.

HDTV Philips Remote Codes

Your Philips universal remote can control most brands of HDTVs including Sony, Vizio, LG and Samsung. Press and hold the "Setup" button on your remote until the remote light turns red and stays red. Press the "TV" button on the Philips universal remote and enter the code for your specific TV. Common Sony TV codes include 0414, 0902, 0801, 0708, 0639 and 0816. Vizio TV codes are 0709 and 1702, while LG codes are 0002, 0606, 0502, 0102, 0117, 0814, 0324, 0435, 0802, 0307, 0609 and 0217. After entering the code, press the "Power" button on your remote to turn off your HDTV. If it works, then the remote has successfully been programmed. If it doesn't work, repeat the process by pressing and holding the "Setup" button and then pressing "TV." Enter a different code. Keep trying codes until one works for your specific TV.

Cable Box Philips Remote Codes

Your Philips universal remote can also be programmed to control many brands of cable boxes from cable providers such as Comcast and Time Warner. Program your remote by pressing and holding the "Setup" button until the remote light turns red and stays on. Press the "Cbl" button on the remote and enter the code for your cable box. Satellite boxes can also be controlled by your Philips universal remote control after programming. Press and hold the "Setup" button on your remote until the red light on the remote comes on.
