When you surf the Internet, you can save websites as Favorites, or Bookmarks, so that it is easier to find your way back to the site. Whether you're switching to a new computer or you accidentally erased information on your current computer, restoring your bookmarked favorite sites can be accomplished by importing your Favorites from a previous backup or by locating your Favorites folder in Windows Explorer. For Macs, you can restore your favorites from the Time Machine application.
Favorites Restoration on PCs
Open Internet Explorer, click the "Favorites" star icon and select the "Favorites tab. Click the arrow next to "Add to Favorites" and click "Import and Export."

Click "Import from a file" and click "Next." Choose to import Favorites and select "Next."Browse to your "Documents" folder and select the "Bookmarks.htm" file.
Click the "Import" button and click "Finish" to complete the restoration.
Recycle Bin Recovery on PCs
Double-click the "Recycle Bin" icon on your desktop.
Click the deleted favorites in the list to highlight them. Right-click the highlighted area.
Click "Restore" from the context menu to restore the deleted favorites back to Internet Explorer.
Favorite Restoration on Macs
Plug an external hard drive into your computer's USB port.
Open the "Applications" folder in Finder and double-click the "Time Machine" icon.
Locate your "Bookmarks" folder in the Time Machine window, and click the folder once to highlight it. Click the "Restore" button in the lower-right corner to restore your favorites.
