How to Rotate a Text Box in Microsoft Publisher

Rotate text boxes in Microsoft Publisher using rotation handles or the rotation controls under the Home tab.

When inserting text via a text box in Microsoft Publisher, use the rotation handle on the text box to instantly rotate it to any angle. Alternately, use the the rotation controls under the Home tab to rotate text boxes at preset or manual angles.

Rotation Handle

Step 1

Click anywhere within the text box to select it.

Step 2

Click and hold rotation handle.

Place your cursor over the round-shaped rotation handle over the text box and then click and hold down the mouse button.

Step 3

Rotate text box.

Drag the cursor to the left or the right to rotate the text box.

Step 4

Release cursor to complete the rotation.

Release the cursor to finish rotating the text box.

Home Group Arrange Controls

Rotate Text Box 90° to the Right

Rotate text box 90° to the right.

Click the Rotate Right 90° option to automatically rotate the text box 90 degrees to the right.

Rotate Text Box 90° to the Left

Rotate text box 90° to the left

Use the Rotate Left 90° icon to rotate the text box 90 degrees to the left.

Manually Insert Rotation Angle

Step 1

Open Format Text Box window.

Click More Rotation Options to open the Format Text Box window.

Step 2

Enter angle and rotate.

Enter the angle that you want to rotate the text box into the Rotation field under the Size tab; for example, 180 degrees. Click OK to rotate the text box to the defined angle.

Open Rotate menu.

Select the text box and then open the Home tab. On the Arrange tab, click the Rotate button.
