One of the things some people may want on their computers is a programmable alarm. Unfortunately, this is one thing that Microsoft left out of their Windows operating systems. However, there are a number of software designers who have discovered that this feature is lacking and have designed standalone software for this purpose. Once you download such a program, setting an alarm is quite simple.
Visit the CNET downloads Web page at download.CNET.com, choose the Cool Timer program and click on the "Download" button.
Save the installation file to a convenient location on your computer, then double-click on it to initialize the installation. Once initialized, follow the onscreen prompts to install the program.
Double-click on the program (a shortcut should be created on your desktop during the installation) and click on the "Options" button. In the "Mode" section, select "Wake," then click "Done" (you also may select a different alarm sound in this menu). Set the time you want the alarm to go off, click "Start," and your alarm is set.
