The Facebook process called "tagging" is one that allows Facebook account holders to notify other Facebook users that a post or photo involving them has been placed on the site. There are two types of tagging. Post tagging appears on messages written on Facebook, and photo tagging applies only to pictures.
Text Tagging

Step 1
Log in to Facebook.com using your email address and password.

Navigate to the area where you wish to tag a group of friends. Such areas may include your wall or the wall of a friend.
Step 3
Type the symbol "@" followed by the name of the first person you wish to tag. When you begin to type the name, matching names from your current list of Facebook friends will appear. Click on the correct name, and the name will appear in the area after the "@." The name will be highlighted in blue, signifying that the person has been tagged.
Step 4
Repeat the process from step 3 for each person in the group you wish to tag. Continue to type the "@" symbol followed by each name you want tagged. Be sure to separate each name with a comma.
Step 5
Click the "Share" button on the lower right side of the comment box once all of the group's names have been tagged. The names will now appear in a tagged group in the location you designated.
Photo Tagging
Step 1
Log in to Facebook.com using your email address and password.
Step 2
Navigate to a photo that you want to tag a group of friends in.
Step 3
Click the "Tag Photo" link to the left of the photo. The words "Click on the photo to start tagging" will appear.
Step 4
Click the photo using the crosshairs that will automatically take the place of your cursor. A box will come up that says "Type any name or tag." A list of your friends will also appear underneath this.
You can either type the name of the friends you wish to tag or you can navigate down the list and click the names one by one to tag them.
Step 5
Continue to tag additional friends in the group using the same process in step 4 until all friends have been tagged.
Step 6
Click "Done Tagging," which appears at the bottom left of the photo. The names in the group will now all be tagged and appear underneath the photo.
