If you're using SafeLink Wireless, you usually have a limited balance of minutes to use each month. You can check this balance using your phone or through the SafeLink website. Depending on your plan, you may be able to purchase additional SafeLink minutes. If you need further assistance, you can call SafeLink for technical support.

SafeLink Minutes Balance Check

SafeLink is a service provided by TracFone under the federal LifeLine program, giving free cellphone service to low income people so they can stay connected. Generally, users have a limited balance of minutes to use each month, though it may be possible to purchase additional minutes if needed. The exact details vary from plan to plan.

You can visit SafeLink's website to check your balance or even simply to find out how to check minutes on SafeLink. If you're not using a smart phone, you can also go through a special process on your phone to find out your balance.

Press the "Menu" key on your phone. You will see the word "prepaid." Press "OK" or "Select." Then, use the scroll buttons on your phone to select "Redeem airtime" or "Add airtime." Press "OK" or "Select." Scroll down or press "OK" until you see the message "Card #" or "Airtime PIN." Use the dialpad keys on your phone to enter the number "555," then press "OK." If you're prompted for a promotion code, press "No."

You'll receive a message with your balance. You'll also receive a message with your balance in the first few days of each month.

Adding Safelink Minutes

Depending on your plan, you may be able to purchase additional minutes or data access after your monthly supply runs out. You can often do this online or through retail stores that sell airtime cards. Check the details of your plan to see what options are available to you.

Errors, Problems and Questions

If your SafeLink balance seems incorrect, you're having trouble checking it or your phone doesn't seem to be working properly, you can contact SafeLink for technical assistance. The service provides a toll-free phone number you can call for support.

Support calls don't incur long-distance charges, but SafeLink does warn that they'll be charged to your balance of minutes. If you do need to call for technical support, you may wish to use another phone, such as a landline phone that doesn't charge for toll-free calls, a work phone or a phone belonging to a friend or relative with an unlimited calling plan.
