Closed captioning is available on almost all broadcast and cable television shows thanks to Federal Communication Commissions regulations. Closed captioning allows you to read the dialogue and sound effects on a television show while it is on. This is helpful for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. It's also a helpful tool if you need to watch TV at a low volume or in a noisy room. If you own a Sony television, you can turn the closed captioning on and off with your remote control.
