Your Kids Will Be All About These DIY iPhone Christmas Ornaments

Grab your kids, ask Alexa to play some Christmas tunes, bake some cookies (because cookies are delicious), and prepare to DIY the coolest ornament ever.

Video of the Day

Elba at Live Colorful posted a super creative DIY project to Chica Circle, and it's something your kids will love. That is, if your kids are into iPhones and pictures of themselves (they are, promise).

It's a clay ornament shaped like an iPhone with a photo of your choosing as the display. So, basically the most unique and relevant ornament ever. Not only is it a fun project, but the end result is pretty rad.

These are the materials you'll need:

  • iPhone
  • Air Dry Modeling Clay
  • Roller
  • Acrylic paint
  • Pictures
  • Brushes
  • Mod Podge
  • Knife

To make the ornament, use a roller to flatten the clay and create a smooth base. Place an iPhone on the clay and trace around it. Using an X-Acto knife (or just a regular kitchen knife), cut out the iPhone shape.

Elba used a toothpick and a AA battery to make the button, speaker, and camera . Don't forget to make a hole at the top so it can be hung from your Christmas tree.

Let the clay dry for at least 12 hours, then paint the front of the ornament white. Paint the back of the ornament however you want—it's like designing your own phone case. Cut a printed photo to the size of an iPhone display (3.5 x 2 inches). Use Mod Podge to glue the picture and to seal the entire ornament. Add a ribbon.

And voila, your tree has its very own iPhone ornament! You know, since actual iPhones are too heavy to hang on the end of a tree branch.
