Instagram Stories just got a lot more musical. In a blog post last week, Instagram announced that users in select countries, including the U.S., can now add music to their Stories from a library of "thousands of songs."
Music can be added the same way you add a sticker, GIF, or poll to a photo or video in Stories. Within the smiley face icon, a music icon now appears, and when you tap it, the music library opens. You can search for a specific song, or browse by song popularity, genre, or mood. Tap the play button to hear a preview. Once you've chosen a song, you can fast forward and rewind to find the exact part you want to use.
You can also choose a song before taking a video, so you can record as the song plays in the background.
When your followers view your Story, they'll hear the song playing along with the photo or video it's attached to, and they'll also see a sticker displaying the artist and song title.
Instagram notes that new song titles are being added daily. As of now, the feature is only available for iOS, with Android being added soon.
