Coinbase's first ever Super Bowl ad broke its own app. The very clever ad aired during the game, which consisted simply of a colorful bouncing QR code. That was enough to draw in enough visitors to literally crash the app.
The 60-second ad encourages viewers to scan the QR code. Once scanned, viewers are taken to Coinbase's promotional website where the company is offering a limited time promotion of $15 worth of Bitcoin for every new sign up, plus a $3 million giveaway contest for new customers.
