How Can I Transfer a Photo Library on My iPhone to My PC Via Bluetooth?
Ericsson, a telecommunications company, created Bluetooth in 1994. It is a software program that transfers files between Bluetooth-enabled electronic devices over a secure local radio network. Although most computers and cell phones have Bluetooth file-sharing capabilities already installed, the iPhone's Bluetooth network is heavily restricted. Apple allows you to only share files between iPhones, and not between your iPhone and a PC. To open up this Bluetooth network, you need to unlock or "jailbreak" the phone. This removes any restrictions dictated by Apple and allows you to transfer files, such as photos, between an iPhone and PC.
Things You'll Need
Jailbreak Your iPhone and Install iBluetooth
Jailbreak your iPhone. This process varies between iPhone models, so consult an online tutorial to determine the steps required. Find instructions on how to jailbreak all iPhone models on the Apple iPhone Review website.
Use your iPhone's web browser to download and install "Installer.app," then "Cydia" on to your phone. Download these applications from the AppSafari website.
Press the Cydia icon on your iPhone's main application menu, then press "Sections" at the bottom of the Cydia window. A list of programs will appear on your screen.
Press the arrow to the right of the "System" folder in the new list. Press on the "iBlueTooth" icon, which is in the subsequent list of programs.
Press the "Install" button, which is in the top right-hand corner of your iPhone screen, then press "Confirm."
Press the "Return to Cydia" button when it appears at the bottom of your screen, then press the "Home" button.
Connect Your iPhone to Bluetooth
Turn your iPhone's Bluetooth function on by opening the "Settings," "General" then "Bluetooth" menus. Scroll the Bluetooth option button to the right so that it reads "ON."
Press the "Home" button, then press the "iBluetooth" icon in your phone's main application menu. Press "OK" when prompted. You will be redirected to the MeDevil website.
Type your e-mail address in the space provided. Press the "Get License" button in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Press "OK," then the "Back" button in the top left-hand corner of your screen.
Connect Your PC to Bluetooth
Open the "Start" menu on your PC, hover the cursor over "Settings" in the new drop down menu. Open "Control Panel" from the subsequent menu.
Open "Printers and other Hardware" in the new window. Select the "Bluetooth Devices" icon or, if it is available, open "Bluetooth Devices" in the main Control Panel window.
Select "Options," then "Turn discovery on" and "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer." Click "Apply," then "OK" to turn Bluetooth on.
Transfer Photos from Your iPhone to a PC
Press the "Images" button at the bottom of your iPhone's screen and select the photo you want to send to your PC. Press "Send," which is at the bottom of the screen. Your iPhone will search for local active Bluetooth devices.
Select the PC's icon from the list of active Bluetooth devices, then press "Send."
Repeat step 1 and 2 of this section until all photos in your photo library have been transferred.
Tips & Warnings
- Make sure that your iPhone and PC are close to each other because Bluetooth's file sharing network is only effective over short distances.
- Although jailbreaking your iPhone is legal, it is not authorized by Apple. As a result, proceed with caution. Although the risks to your iPhone are minor, you will not be able to make a claim for damages under your phone's warranty.
