How do I Get Rid of the DocuCom PDF Trial Watermark in PaperPort 11?

When opening a PDF document in PaperPort 11, you may find that the PDF displays a "DocuCom PDF Trial" watermark. In order to resolve this issue, you must edit the Windows registry and reinstall Paperport.

Edit the Registry

Step 1

Close PaperPort.

Step 2

Click "Start," type "regedit," and press "Enter."

Step 3

Click the "+" sign next to the following items in the left pane of the Registry Editor:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftware

Step 4

Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and select "Permissions."

Step 5

Check the boxes labeled "FULL CONTROL" and "READ" for the following entries:Your user acocuntAdministratorAdministrators (if available)Creater Owner (if available)Users (if available)

Step 6

Click the "+" sign next to the following items in the left pane of the Registry Editor:HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware

Step 7

Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and select "Permissions."

Step 8

Check the boxes labeled "FULL CONTROL" and "READ" for the following entries:Your user acocuntAdministratorAdministrators (if available)Creater Owner (if available)Users (if available)

Step 9

Close the Registry Editor.

Uninstall and Reinstall PaperPort

Step 1

Click "Start," type "programs and features" and press "Enter."

Step 2

Select PaperPort from the list of installed options and click the "Uninstall" button. Follow the prompts to finish uninstalling the software.

Step 3

Download the PaperPort removal tool and save the file to your desktop.

Step 4

Right-click the file and choose "Extract here" to extract the files. A new folder named "Remover" will appear on your desktop.

Step 5

Open the "Remover" folder and double-click "Remover.exe."

Step 6

Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to remove PaperPort.

Step 7

Click "Start" and select "Computer."

Step 8

Double-click "Local Disk C:" and open the "Program Files" folder.

Step 9

Open the "ScanSoft" folder and delete the "PaperPort" folder.

Step 10

Click "Start," type "devices and printers," and press "Enter."

Step 11

Right-click the PaperPort printer, choose "Delete," and click "Yes" to remove the printer.

Step 12

Restart the computer.

Step 13

Insert your PaperPort installation disc and follow the prompts to reinstall the software.
