When a Philips TV is in retail mode, it flashes information about the TV's features across the screen at regular intervals. It is mainly used when the TV is used as a demo unit in a retail store. During the course of normal setup, the TV will ask which mode you want to select. If you purchased an old demo model or accidentally chose the wrong option, you can go back in and change the setting to home mode.
