Apple designed iTunes to work with iPods.

The media management and playback program iTunes displays your music files in one of four views: song list, album list, album cover grid or album cover flow. The album cover grid view has either a light or a dark background, depending on personal taste. A light background has a smoother look, while a dark background provides for higher contrast. The album cover grid is the only iTunes view in which you can change the color scheme.
