How to Check an AT&T Call History Log

By Sam Kellenberg

There are three ways to check an AT&T phone number's call history, whether you are trying to find a phone number or verify the time of a call. If the phone number does not belong to you, you must obtain the appropriate permission; as with any other bill, phone bills are considered confidential. Whenever possible, try to have access to the phone for which you are seeking records.

Things You'll Need

  • Cellphone
  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • AT&T account information

Checking Your AT&T Call History

Step 1

Turn on the phone in question if it is a cellphone. Select "Call History" from the menu. Select from the options "Missed Call," "Incoming Call" or "Outgoing Call" to view the respective lists.

Step 2

Go to att.com. If the call you are looking for was not recent or retained by the cellphone's memory, or belongs to a land line, you can find records of the bills -- and thereby the call history of all phones on the account -- at AT&T's website. After logging in, click the "View Full Bill" tab to the left.

Step 3

Click "View Voice Details," which should be below the list of phones on the account. From there, you can select the call histories of each phone number on the account.

Step 4

Wait for your monthly paper bill, if you receive one. The paper bill will include a printout of all calls made during the previous month. If the call in question was from prior months, look through older bills.

Step 5

Call 611 from your AT&T phone. Automated prompts will enable you to check your phone's call history, provided you have the account's login information.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to have the phone's account information on hand before attempting these steps.
