The Internet Movie Database is one of the largest online movie databases. The site collects data based on movie titles, actors and crews and displays them on pages with relevant information. IMDB revolves around film titles and individual actors, and crew members must be attached to existing pages on the site. There are two primary ways to create new pages on IMDB: Movie Title pages and Actor or Crew Resume pages.
Setting Up Your Account
Go to the IMDB homepage and click the "Register" link in the top right hand corner. You'll be taken to the registration screen. You must have a verified IMDB account to add new content.
Fill in your contact information, including a valid email address. Many of the fields are voluntary, but be sure to fill out the fields with burgundy asterisks. These are for the required information. Click "Save."
Go to your email inbox and there should be a registration email from IMDB. Click on the link inside the email to verify your account, which will log you in and take you to the IMDB homepage.
Setting up a Title Page
Search the database using the search field near the top of the homepage to set up a page for a film or television show. If you do not see the title, go to the "Community" tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Select "Contributor Zone" from the drop-down menu.
Click the "New Title Guide/Form" link underneath the Help section in the left hand sidebar. This takes you to the title page.
Scan the acceptance guidelines at the top of the page to ensure your addition meets IMDB content guidelines. This will increase the likelihood of the site accepting your submission.
Enter the information for the new title including name, type of project, production status and year. Click the "Check these updates" link at the bottom of the page to send the submission to the IMDB editors.
Setting up a Resume Page
Go to the IMDBPro homepage and click the "14 Day Free Trial" button on the left hand side to create a Resume page. You must be a registered member of the IMDBPro service in order to do so.
Fill in your contact and personal information and click "Enter." Go to your inbox and search for your confirmation email. Click on the link inside to verify your account.
Go to the IMDB Resume page at resume.imdb.com and enter the email address and password for your Pro account. Click the "Enter" button at the bottom of the screen and your information will be sent to the IMDB editors for verification.
Verification is done manually and can take up to 48 hours. Once completed, you can access new title and resume pages complete with projects, film credits and contact info.
