How to Crop Videos on Photobooth

Photo Booth is a free program included with Macintosh laptops that enables you to take pictures and shoot video using the built-in iSight camera. Photo Booth does not include editing options that allow you to crop or otherwise edit videos that you have shot using the program. However, you can import Photo Booth videos into iMovie, another free program included on all Macs. Using iMovie, you can crop your Photo Booth video.

Importing Your Video to iMovie

Step 1

From iMovie, select "File" at the top of the screen by clicking it with your cursor. This will open a drop-down menu.

Select "Import" from the drop-down menu. This will open a second drop-down menu.

Step 3

Select "Movies" from the second drop-down menu. This will open a new window.

Step 4

Select "Photo Booth" from the folder menu at the top of the new window, if it is not already highlighted.

Step 5

Highlight the movie you wish to edit from the list of all Photo Booth videos.

Step 6

Click the radio button next to "Copy Files."

Step 7

Click the button that reads "Import." Your video is now open in iMovie and ready to be edited.

Cropping Your Video

Step 1

Drag the first triangle symbol to the point in the video timeline at which you want your video to begin.

Step 2

Drag the second triangle symbol to the point in the video timeline at which you want your video to end.

Step 3

Select "Edit" from the top menu. This will open a drop-down menu.

Step 4

Select "Crop" from the drop-down menu.
