How to Find People in Real Time For Free With Google Latitude

Wish you could know exactly where your kids are at this very moment? What your sweetheart is doing? Or just have an idea of what your friends are up to? Google Latitude provides free location services to supported smart phone devices. The included privacy features let you control who see your current location at any given time. Additional features include the capability to share your location at any given time and see a history of past locations.

Step 1

Open your preferred Web browser and go to Google.com/latitude to begin. Select your phone in the box that appears and follow the prompts to install the application. For Internet enable phones, you may also visit Google.com/latitude with your phone to install the application.

Wait for the application to finish installing on your phone. Open the "Sharing" options in the Google Latitude application on your phone and set the level of detail you want to share. The "Share best available location" setting shows the nearest location. The "Share only city level location" setting just shares the city in which you are located.

Open the "Privacy" settings to choose the location settings. The "Detect your location" setting automatically shares your current location. The "Set your location" setting lets you manually set your current location.
