How to Install an Email Program
Communicate over great distances without leaving the safety or comfort of your home. Read, write and respond to friends, colleagues and family from all around the world by using an email program. Choose an email program with the features you desire, rather than settling for one already installed on your computer. A number of different email programs are available. Some email programs are free, and others require a fee but offer a free trial period. The installation process is similar and straightforward for all email programs.
Download a free email program to the desktop of your computer. Double-click the file once it has downloaded to begin the installation process. Follow the menu commands on the screens that appear to install the program. Restart the computer after the installation is completed.
Start the email program. Click on the "Yes" or "No" button when the window appears asking if this should be your default email program.
Close any or all windows displaying copyright and other information about the program.
Select the "Options" menu from the "Tools" tab at the top of the email program's main window. Click on the "Getting Started" or "Start" icon or similarly named text field.
Enter your email address in the "Email address" or similarly named text field. Enter your full name in the appropriate text field.
Enter your email address again in the "Return Address" or "Outgoing address" or similarly named text field.
Click on the "Host" icon or select it from the top menu. Enter the outgoing email server for your Internet Service provider (ISP) in the appropriate text field; this information can be acquired from the ISP's website or from their customer service department. If the outgoing email server text field is on the same window as that of the "Return Address," you will enter the outgoing email server information in that window instead.
Click the "OK" or "Done" or similarly named button at the bottom of the window to complete the installation of the email program.
