How to Make Bubble Letters in Illustrator

By Daniel Ketchum

Illustrator is a vector graphics application sold by the Adobe corporation. It is used by graphics artists to create vector graphics for many different projects, such as ads, signs and websites. One of the most important aspects of their work is making sure that the lettering stands out for the viewer. There are many ways to do this, but one of the most effective is to use bubble letters.

Step 1

Select "File" from the menu at the top and choose "New." In the dialog that appears, enter the width and height you want for the document and click "OK."

Step 2

Select the "Type" tool from the toolbar on the left. Drag a text box on the canvas where you want your bubble text.

Step 3

Choose the font style and size, as well as the "Fill" color. A curvy font works best for this. Then type in your text.

Step 4

Select "Effect" from the menu and choose "3D." From the options, choose "Extrude and Bevel." In the dialog, click "Preview." Then turn the cube to adjust the effect. When you like the result being previewed, click "OK." Save your work.
