How to Program a Yamaha Remote Control
Yamaha's universal remote allows you to program in several different electronic devices into one remote to replace a lost remote or get rid of the many different remotes around your home entertainment system. It can work with a DVD player, cable box or home audio equipment.
Turn on the device that you want to program into your Yamaha universal remote. If it is a media player, insert a tape or disc into the device in order to test it once you program it. Keep other devices off during this time.
Slide the "Memory" switch to the corresponding position for the device you are preparing to program.
Aim the television at the top of the remote for the device you are programming or the receiver of the device itself. Use a thin item such as a paper clip or pencil tip to press the "Learn" button on the Yamaha remote. The "Learn" LED light will begin to flash.
Press the "Power" button on the remote. The "Learn" light will light up solid. Within 30 seconds, press and release the "Power" button on the remote for the device or on the device itself. The "Learn" light will begin to blink slowly if the button is programmed.
Repeat Step 4 for every button that you want to program on the Yamaha remote to work with your device. Press the button first on the remote and then on the device or remote. When all the buttons are programmed, press the "Learn" button again to save your progress.
Press the "Power" button to test your device. Test all of the buttons you have programmed. If a button does not work, repeat the process to reprogram the button.
