Pioneer manufactures several wireless-enabled media receivers that can be programmed to connect with your smartphone as well as audio and video applications like Pandora, Spotify and Roku. Like many modern Web-connected electronic devices, these receivers may occasionally experience minor glitches, like connectivity issues or unresponsive menus. A factory reset -- of just the network connection settings or of the entire system -- may be an effective resolution.
Before You Start and Choosing a Reset Option
Before resetting, power cycle the receiver -- unplug it from the wall, wait 10 to 30 seconds and plug it back in -- to see if that resolves the problem. If it doesn't, attempt to reset only your network configurations, which clears all Wi-Fi router settings but leaves the rest of your system and app data alone. A full system factory reset permanently clears your system of all programmed data like sound settings, account synchronizations and app logins. Commit to this type of reset only when you've exhausted all other troubleshooting possibilities.
Reset Network Connection Settings
A factory reset of your network connection settings can be initiated using the Network Setup menu. To navigate to this interface, press "Net" on your remote and then select "Home Menu." Use the arrow pad to select the "Factory Reset" option, then choose "Start." Confirm by choosing "OK" and then allow a few moments for the device to process the request. The next time you attempt to sign back into the system, you'll be prompted to select a local network and to re-enter the appropriate network key.
Factory Reset the System
Unplug all external devices -- like your TV, DVD player and iPod -- before beginning the system reset. Switch the receiver into standby mode by holding down "Band" and then pressing and holding the "Standby/On" button for about two seconds. When you see "Reset?" appear on the display, press either the left or right arrow button or the "Auto Surround/Stream Direct" button until "OK?" is displayed. Confirm by pressing "ALC/Standard Surr." An "OK" message will appear on the display to confirm that the factory reset is underway.
Refer to your model's user's manual for additional troubleshooting advice -- for example, networking tips, techniques for conserving power and the best sound configuration suggestions for your home setup. These guidelines may help resolve a system glitch and avoid the hassle of a factory reset. If you do end up needing to perform the reset, however, expect it to take at least a few minutes, depending upon how much data and other content is stored in your receiver's memory.
