How to Send a Test MMS Message

MMS stands for multimedia messaging service. MMS has become a very popular way to send multimedia such as pictures, videos and sounds. Some of the most popular phones for MMS messaging are the iPhone, the BlackBerry and other smart phones with cameras. MMS messages can be sent to other phones and even to your email. Sending a test MMS message is just as simple as sending a regular MMS message or SMS message; anyone with an MMS capable phone can do it.

Things You'll Need

  • MMS capable cell phone
  • Extra phone
  • Email address

Test MMS to Phone

Step 1

Open your phone and pick out a test MMS messaging object. A previously taken or default picture is a good one.

Step 2

Go into your phone's messaging menu and select the option to send a new picture message, which will be frequently labeled "Send New Picture Message."

Step 3

Enter the recipient's phone number into the "To" box of the message. For a test MMS message your recipient should be a phone that is available to check for delivery confirmation. Using an extra phone of your own or a friend's phone are optimal.

Step 4

Select the picture message you wish to send in the test MMS message. Send the MMS message.

Step 5

Check your recipient phone to see if the message has been received.

Test MMS to Email

Step 1

Open your phone and pick out a test MMS messaging object. A previously taken or default picture is a good one.

Enter your email address into the "To" box of the message.

Step 4

Select the picture message you wish to send in the test MMS message. Send the MMS message.

Log in to and check your email for receipt of the emailed MMS message.
