How to Send Contact Information Via Text on the iPhone

By Kristie Lorette

The iPhone creates a call log of all the incoming and outgoing calls that are made from the phone. From the phone log, you can create a new contact from the list or you can create a contact under the "Contact" icon on the iPhone. The iPhone allows you to share contact information via text whether you have the contact saved in the contact portion of the iPhone or if it is a call listing in the call log of your iPhone.

Call Log

Step 1

Touch the "Phone" icon from the home screen on the iPhone. Click on the "Recents" icon along the bottom of the Phone screen. Identify if you want to review a list of all the calls coming and going from the iPhone or just review the calls that you have missed. The phone defaults to listing all of the calls made from or received on the phone. You can switch to viewing only the missed calls by touching the "Missed" button on the top of the iPhone screen.

Step 2

Identify the call entry or contact you want to share via text. Next to the call name or number, you see a time and a small arrow that points to the right of the screen. Click on the small arrow to bring up the details of the call entry.

Step 3

Scroll down to the bottom of the call detail screen. Touch the "Share Contact" button. Three button options pop up on the bottom of the iPhone screen: "Email," "MMS" and "Cancel." To share the contact by text, touch the "MMS" button.

Step 4

Type in the cell phone number or begin to type the name of the person you want to send the contact to via text. Contacts that match appear as a list under the To box. Tap on the desired contact.

Step 5

Press the "Send" button in the middle right of the iPhone screen. This sends the contact information as a text message.
