Your Verizon FiOS service is susceptible to disruptions due to problems with your FiOS set-top box. Problems with the set-top box's software settings, cable connections or operating firmware will cause your service to cut off while viewing. The box includes built-in reset features to help you troubleshoot problems with your service before having to call in a repair technician from Verizon.

Step 1

Reset your Verizon FiOS router. The router provides the signal to the set-top box and can cause errors with your service. Unplug the power cable on the rear of the router for 30 seconds. Plug it back in to reset the device.

Step 2

Check the cable connection from the set-top box to the router. Make sure the coaxial cable attached to the FiOS IN jack is securely connected. Loose connections can disrupt service if the cable is tugged or moved.

Step 3

Unplug the power cable from the rear of the Verizon FiOS set-top box. Leave it unplugged for 15 seconds to perform a reset to device. Plug the power cable back into the set-top box and wait for the time to appear on the front panel. Press the "Power" button to turn on the box and resume your Verizon service.
